Huge queues have been reported at Finsbury Park station with trains in the area stranded. 

Photos taken at the Underground station show crowds packed into tunnels waiting to get to the platform. 

One person described the situation as a "horror show".

Another Twitter user reported seeing people “walking back along the train tracks” to get to the station. 

Later another Twitter user revealed her train was evacuated with passengers forced to talk along the rails. 

She wrote: “First (we spent) around 40 mins on the train that was in the tunnel, then emergency evacuation, and then walk from Drayton Park to Finsbury on the actual rail.

“Not the best start of the day.”

Transport for London said: “Piccadilly Line: No service between Kings Cross and Cockfosters only, due to a person on the track.”

TFL warned to expect “major delays”. 

There are also “minor delays” on the London Overground between Surrey Quays and New Cross due to an earlier faulty train at Dalston Junction. 

And until January 14 there will be no service between Gospel Oak and Barking due to improvement works. 

It comes as London is also hit by a day of industrial action. Services into the city have been hit by delays and cancellations.
