McNeal scores 47 points in Knights’ win

Tuscaloosa Academy’s Hadrian McNeil exploded for 47 points, including 20 points in the fourth quarter, to lead the Knights to a 76-73 win against Restoration Academy.

Ethan Brindley scored 10 points and Alex Johnson nine, his points coming all in the fourth quarter.

Christian Johnson scored 32 points and Lorenzo Davis 20 for Restoration Academy.

Tuscaloosa Academy (12-6) plays at Bessemer Academy on Tuesday.

Sipsey Valley 39

BUHL – The Stampede had three players score in double digits, led by 15 points, eight assists and four steals from Jared Sherfield. Kailex Stephens had 14 points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals. Seth Williams had 11 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Tyrin Lanier scored 10 points and JaMirrus Fuller nine to lead Sipsey Valley.

Bryant (15-4) hosts Central on Friday.

Russell Christian 53

LIVINGSTON – Playing at the University of West Alabama, Pickens Academy’s win was led by four players who scored in double figures. Seth Peeks was the high scorer with 20 points. Lee Acker had 17, Hamner Allen 16 and Austin Goodman 10.

The win keeps Pickens Academy undefeated, at 9-0, as it prepares to host South Choctaw Academy on Friday.

 

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tuscaloosa County 45,

Central 43

NORTHPORT – Tuscaloosa County led the entire second half in the home win. Resha King led its scorers with 12 points, and Tamia Knight was next with eight.

Central’s Sakya White led all scorers with 17 points and dominated under the boards with 21 rebounds. Mackenzie Mahone scored 10 points.

Tuscaloosa County (16-6) plays at Hoover on Friday while Central (15-5), ranked No. 6 in AHSAA Class 5A, plays at Paul W. Bryant on Friday.

 

Pickens Academy 46,

Russell Christian 18

Pickens Academy’s dominant win was led by Allison Latham’s 18 points and six rebounds and 13 points and 11 rebounds by Olivia Lewis.

Russell Christian’s top scorer was Madison Adams with 10 points.

Pickens Academy (7-2) hosts South Choctaw Academy on Friday.

Berry 32

Tyner Beth Bowling was Berry’s high scorer in the loss with 12 points.

Phillips was led by Lexie Dishner’s 13 points.

Berry (7-10) will host Hubbertville on Friday.

 

Gordo 51,

Aliceville 50

GORDO – Kayla Guinn made a baseline jumper with about two seconds remaining in the game to give Gordo the win.

Her basket came about 11 seconds after Aliceville had scored and taken a one-point lead.

Keionni Prude was Gordo’s and the game’s high scorer, making 6-of-8 free throws and ending the game with 18 points. Corley Sellers scored 12 points.

Jamela Simon led Aliceville with 13 points.

Gordo (10-5) will host Holy Spirit on Friday.

For Tuscaloosa Academy, three players scored in double figures. Grace Pelphrey scored 19 and both Kelsey Curry and Lauren Richmond scored 14 points.

BUHL – Denetria Smith scored 19 points and Taylor Smith 17 for Sipsey Valley.

Ieisha Merida scored 19, Myia Anderson 15 and JaKina Hines 10 for Paul W. Bryant.
