Police prevent girl from drowning self

A 24-year-old girl was saved with prompt action of police personnel of Talaiya police station on Thursday. The girl jumped into the lower lake to commit suicide, but was saved by the police personnel.

Police said that a girl jumped into the lower lake in the morning, but it was spotted by two police constables posted at Talaiya police station and was saved by them and rushed her to Hamidia hospital where her condition is reportedly stable.

The girl was identified as Suman Goswami of South TT Nagar and when she jumped into the lower lake two police constables posted at Talaiya police station Rajan and Jitendra were passing by and after spotting the girl’s act, they stopped there and jumped to save her and rescued her.

After the girl was rescued she was not able to breathe properly due to filling of water in lungs and was rushed to Hamidia hospital where she is under observation.

The commuters and locals informed police and 108 ambulance service before the police personnel spotted the girl.

On the receipt of the information girl’s mother reached the hospital. She was not able to ascertain the reason of suicide attempt by her daughter.

Police said that reason behind the attempt to commit suicide would be investigated. Till the filing of the report no action has been taken against the girl. 

The rescue work received appreciation and DIG Santosh Kumar Singh declared to felicitate the good work done by the two police personnel and delivered their duty.
