The mother of the black boy featured in controversial H&M ad for a "coolest monkey" hoodie has spoken up about the controversy.
In a number of now deleted Facebook posts, Terry Mango, the Sweden-based mother, told those accusing H&M of being racially insensitive to "stop crying wolf all the time" and "get over it".
"Am the mum and this is one of hundreds of outfits my son has modelled," Mango wrote. "Stop crying wolf all the time, unnecessary issue here… get over it."
"If I bought that jumper and put it on him and posted it on my pages, would that make me racist? I get pples opinion, but they are not mine."
H&M has apologised for the ad, featuring the black boy posing with a "coolest monkey in the jungle" hoodie.
The ad went viral for all the wrong reasons with numerous people, including high profile celebrities, slamming the brand for being racist.
The word "monkey" has long been used as a racial slur against black people.
Celebrities such as The Weeknd expressed their outrage online. The celebrity went as far as cutting his ties with the brand over the matter.
The company has removed the hoodie from its website and released a statement saying it was "deeply sorry that the picture was taken".
