ODOT preps for winter storm

Ohio (WTRF) - With a winter storm headed towards the Ohio Valley, ODOT of Eastern Ohio is getting prepared.

On Thursday, officials spent the entire day inspecting their snow plow trucks, salt spreaders, and other equipment so they're up and running.

Officials also checked their calcium and salt supplies and scheduled extra crew members to be on hand.

But even with extra hands, officials are asking drivers to be patient.

ODOT has to cover 12 different routes averaging 40 miles a piece.

So, be patient because they're doing what they can to ensure your safety.

"People have to realize that we can't be everywhere at one time. We have 12 routes with 12 people. Just give us time to do your jobs and take your time traveling. If you don't have to be on the roads, don't," said Hugh Southern, Transportation Manager for ODOT.
