Entire City of Steubenville under water conservation order
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) - The City of Steubenville Water Department is asking all residents to conserve water to the greatest extent possible.
According to officials, they are experiencing high flows as a result of water breaks. Officials are attempting to locate the water breaks and high flows with the assistance of a private company. Conditions at the water plant require more frequent filter washing, which consumes fairly large amounts of water.
The department continues to monitor this situation, and will update residents as conditions change. If the situation cannot be managed by this action, further measures may be needed.
Once the situation improves, we will notify customers, ending the conservation request.
If there are any questions, residents are urged to call the water plant at (740) 283-6041.
Below are several suggestions for conserving water:
- Delay doing laundry
- Reduce toilet flushing. This can be done by reusing water which may have been used for other purposes. Collect the water into a bucket, and slowly pour it into a bucket, and slowly pour it into the bowl of the commode, instead of flushing as you normally would.
- Eliminate dinner plates, etc., and instead use disposable utensils
- Be conservative in regard to bathing, etc.
- Report any leakage you may become aware of as soon as possible.
