The Haryana Government will celebrate ‘International Saraswati Festival’ from January 18 to 22.

The State Education and Tourism Minister Ram Bilas Sharma on Thursday invited External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to attend the celebrations during the festival.

During his meeting, Sharma said the Government will celebrate  Saraswati Festival from January 18 to 22 at international level.

The International Saraswati Festival to be organised by Haryana Saraswati Heritage Development Board will be inaugurated on January 18 at Adi Badri.

An international conference will be held from January 19 to 22 in Kurukshetra University to deliberate upon issued related to Saraswati river.

Sharma said that this is the third Saraswati festival. The first Saraswati festival was held at the state level and the second Saraswati Festival was held nationally.

The BJP led Haryana Government had been working since 2015 to restore Saraswati creek from Adi Badri to Mustafabad in Yamunanagar district.

The Saraswati river, considered sacred in Hindu religion, finds mention in ancient Hindu scriptures like the Rig Veda, Mahabharata, Ramayana and others, giving credence to the belief that it existed during those times.
