A young elephant was found dead by forest department staff in the Ramnagar area. The dead elephant was spotted by department staff on patrol who informed their seniors about the same.
The department officers reached the site along with veterinarians who conducted the post mortem on the elephant carcass.
The body was later buried. According to the officials, the age of the elephant is estimated to have been between six and eight years. The viscera of the elephant is being sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) Bareilly and Wildlife Institute of India to ascertain the actual cause of the elephant’s death, officials said.
