40th Yulo Memorial golf slated

MANILA, Philippines — The Jose Yulo Memorial, Canlubang Golf and Country Club’s premier member-guest tournament, braces for its 40th staging on Jan. 27-28 with another huge field expected to vie for top honors in various divisions at the South and North courses of the Cangolf complex.

Registration is ongoing with fee pegged at P10,000/team, inclusive of two practice rounds on both courses, food and beverage for two days, giveaways plus more. Deadline for listup is on Jan. 21.

Each team will be composed of one member and one guest with the member’s maximum handicap set at 26 for male and 32 for female and maximum of 18 for male guest and 24 for female guest.

Up for grabs in the two-day tournament which will use the Stableford Aggregate scoring system are the overall team championship, the overall low gross crown and the individual low net and gross titles with awards to be given to daily winners.

Toshikatsu Oka and Yuji Tokunaga pooled a 157 from rounds of 74 and 83 to emerge the overall champions last year, edging the pairs of Richard Tan-Anthony Tan and Shiro Kinugasa-Junzo Ichikawa, which assembled with identical 153s.

Mari Hechanova-Junjun Plana took the team low gross plum while Luis Castro and Anthony Arevalo bagged the individual low gross and low net titles, respectively.
