Raghuveera highlights steps taken by the party for realisation of the project

Congress Chief Ministers Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, K. Rosaiah and N. Kiran Kumar Reddy spent ₹5,136 crore on the Polavaram project from 2004 to 2014. Is it true or false?

This is one of the 20 questions PCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy posed to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in an open letter here on Thursday asking him to answer if they were true or not.

Some of the important statements made in the letter are: Congress CM T. Anjaiah laid the foundation stone for the project on May 19, 1981. Mr. Naidu did not bother even a bit when he was president of the TDP of the United Andhra Pradesh from 1994 to 2004. YSR as the Chief Minister got funds released and began the work in 2004. Sonia Gandhi visited the project twice in the capacity of UPA chairperson in 2005 and 2008 and promised Central assistance. All clearances were given when the Congress was in power.

Mr. Reddy told the CM that the Congress organised the Mahapadayatra to the sam site and Mass Satyagraha there demanding that the project be completed by April 2019 without any financial burden on the State.
