But it doesn’t end here. Sehwag couldn’t resist tagging wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel in the tweet by asking him if he needs the gloves This time, Sehwag got a taste of his own medicine when Parthiv Patel responded with an equally witty remark, leaving the Twitterati in splits!

On January 10, Sehwag posted a tweet with the picture of the two rotis shaped like palms. The caption read: ‘नई नवेली दुल्हन आयीz पति बोला अपने हाथ की रोटी बना के खिलाओ ।’. This roughly translates to ‘This roti has been made by a newlywed bride after her husband asked her to make rotis with her hands.’ This post was already going viral, with close to 2000 comments and 35000 likes. In the meanwhile, Sehwag decided to take the joke further, and tagged Parthiv Patel in the next tweet. Quoting his tweet with the roti photograph, Sehwag tweeted, ‘Nikke @parthiv9 , Bhai wicket keeping gloves hain wahaan ya bhejoon !’ (Do you have wicket keeping gloves or should I send these across?’).

Sehwag’s tweet prompted a hilarious response from Patel, who said, ‘Idhar meri perfect size wale bahut gloves le ke aaya hu.. ise udhar hi rakhe aap..delhi mai thand Badh gayi hai to ghar me kisi ke Kaam aaynege..’ (I have gloves that fit me perfectly over here. The winter in Delhi is becoming more severe and you should probably keep these gloves as it might be needed by someone at home!’ This exchange between Sehwag and Patel made for an interesting exchange and the Twitterati absolutely loved it. Many called it a ‘perfect reply’ to Sehwag’s ‘troll attempt’.

There have several instances where Virender Sehwag has displayed his excellent humour and wordplay skills. In October 2017, Sehwag’s Twitter conversation with New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor left the internet in splits. Similarly, his congratulatory tweet for Ravichandran Ashwin when he won the 7th Man of the series title, his birthday wish for Anil Kumble and his response to Shobha De’s comment on Olympic athletes was well appreciated.
