Market Now: BSE Midcap index outpaces Sensex; IDFC Bank jumps nearly 6%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Midcap index was outpacing benchmark Sensex in Thursday's trade.
At 11 hours, the BSE Midcap index was 0.46 per cent up at 18,201, while the BSE Sensex was 0.02 per cent up at 34,439. The NSE Nifty50 was 0.03 per cent down at 10,628.
Shares of IDFC Bank (up 5.53 per cent), JSW Energy (up 3.34 per cent), Godrej Industries (up 3.33 per cent), Oracle Financial Services Software (up 2.52 per cent) and Natco Pharma (up 2.43 per cent) were among the top gainers in the BSE Midcap index.
On the contrary, Alkem Laboratories (down 2.29 per cent), Container Corporation of India (down 1.76 per cent), Emami (down 1.43 per cent), Rajesh Exports (down 1.15 per cent) and Muthoot Finance (down 1.10 per cent) were among the top losers in the index around the same time.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 19 were trading in the green, while 31 were in the red.
Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Motors were leading the Sensex index.
Coal India, Axis Bank and Wipro were among the top losers in the Sensex kitty of stocks.
