Samantha Grant, 52, took a swipe at her half sister Meghan for revelling in her lavish lifestyle and brandishing her stunning diamond engagement ring.

Meghan Markle stunned in a semi-sheer £56,000 Ralph & Russo dress with gold father detailing and ruffled skirt for her gorgeous official engagement photographs with Prince Harry. 

And she revealed her bespoke ring which features three diamonds, including two from Princess Diana’s private collection.

But the red carpet lifestyle comes as Ms Markle’s father Thomas struggles to make ends meet. He reportedly filed for bankruptcy in 2016.

Ms Grant said: “If you can spend $75,000 on a dress, you can spend $75,000 on your dad.” 

There has been speculation surrounding whether Thomas Markle will give Meghan away when she weds the Prince this year and reports had suggested the star’s mother, Doria Ragland, wanted the honour.

However, Ms Grant finally put the rumours to rest.

Asked during an interview on Channel 5 show The Wright Stuff whether her father would be the person to walk his daughter down the aisle, Ms Grant replied: “Yes he is, God forbid unless a plane crashes through his roof, he'll be there one way or the other.

"So any rumour to the contrary is... My favourite new word is becoming 'oh rubbish'. Yeah, so he will be there."

The news comes after 73-year-old Mr Markle s broke his silence for the first time this weekend and showered praise on his future son-in-law, Prince Harry.

He said: “I think it’s wonderful, I’m very delighted. I think they’re a very good match, I’m very happy for them, Meghan and Harry.

“I love my daughter very much - Harry’s a gentleman.”

Mr Markle was reported to be “extremely hurt” following Prince Harry’s comments about the Royal Family being the family she never had.

Thomas Markle Kr, Meghan’s half-brother, explained in an interview: “My father will be extremely hurt, actually. He dedicated the majority of all his time and everything to her.

Ms Grant has previously spoken out against her sister’s relationship with her royal beau, calling her a “social climber” and that it was her “ambition to become a Princess.”

She told the Sun that she was “narcissistic and selfish” after they had drifted apart.

Since then, despite her book ‘The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister' still to be released, she has backtracked on many of her remarks and now speaks positively of the young couple.
