Drinking habit cited as reason for frequent fights

A woman allegedly throttled her husband to death annoyed over his “constant harassment” at Bhagyanagar Tanda in Karepalli mandal in the small hours of Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Banoth Srinivas, 35, a labourer, was sleeping when his wife Lakshmi, 29, allegedly smothered him to death with a cloth, police sources said.

The two daughters of the couple, aged 11 and 13, were fast asleep in the same room at the time of occurrence of the incident.

Lakshmi was reportedly annoyed over his alleged drinking habits and rude behaviour towards her, sources added.

However, the relatives of the deceased wanted a thorough probe into the murder to unravel the exact motive behind the killing.

Killed over dispute

In a separate incident, a woman allegedly killed her husband in a fit of rage over a family dispute at a tribal settlement near Ramnagar in Aswapuram mandal, of the neighbouring Bhadradri-Kothagudem district late on Tuesday night.

Sources said Kursa Laxmi, 20, allegedly battered her husband Devaiah, 22, to death during a verbal spat the latter had with her father, relating to a family feud.
