Parent talks about taking their children out of MPS System
Thousands of people are very happy about the University of Alabama's national college football championship, but probably not many from the University of Wisconsin or the University of Central Florida. The University of Wisconsin, like Georgia and Alabama, had only one defeat all season, and had as much right to be in the playoffs as they did. The University of Central Florida was undefeated, and had defeated Auburn, which had defeated both Georgia and Alabama in the regular season. Having an eight-team playoff system would be more fair, because it would give universities such as Central Florida and Wisconsin a chance to compete for the national championship.

Tax cuts column not based on reality
An opinion column that ran in Montgomery Advertiser's Dec. 28 edition, headlined “Tax cuts come at a high price,” does not cite a single micro-economic model predicting the effects of increasing or decreasing taxes on private-sector workers.
“Real” income taxes come from profits earned by private-sector property and workers that produce and sell goods and services.
Government sends part of its seized profits to government employees and government dependents.
How long before our economy collapses if government dependents and employees stop working? How about private-sector workers?

What is Trump afraid of?
President Donald Trump says he would "absolutely" be willing to talk to the leader of North Korea on the phone. Interesting.
As Special Counsel Robert Mueller's net closes around the Trump family and its close associates, it looks as if Trump himself may be called for an interview. His lawyers are frantic. One suggestion from them is for written questions to be submitted and he would answer them in writing. Another possibility is that Trump would be allowed to sign an affidavit, stating he didn't collude with the Russians. What a brilliant idea. From now on, when we suspect someone of a crime, we just give them an affidavit to sign with little boxes they can check indicating "yes" or "no" on the question of guilt. It will save hours of police work, time in court, etc.
Trump is willing to talk with one of the most evil persons in the world but afraid to talk with a Republican special counsel who is an American combat veteran. Seems as if there's a message here somewhere.

Hurts shows great sportsmanship
Jalen Hurts! What a perfect example of pure sport! His selfless and excited support for Tua was inspiring; such a wonderful example of great sportsmanship and good will. Great kid! Great game! A gift to Alabama for not electing Roy Moore.
