Jersey Mike's Subs coming to St. Cloud

St. Cloud residents may have a new lunch option soon thanks to sandwich chain Jersey Mike's Subs. 

The long-empty space next to Cold Stone Creamery at 3959 Second St. S now bears the signature red sign of Jersey Mike's, a New Jersey-based submarine sandwich chain. 

Josie Capozzi, vice president of franchise relations for Jersey Mike's Subs, confirmed that the franchise location in St. Cloud is currently in permitting. 

The space has no other signage and appears to be under construction. Capozzi said the opening date of the location will not be estimated until the franchise is out of permitting.

Jersey Mike's offers made-to-order sub sandwiches that can be customized in various ways, including "Mike's Way," the company's signature melange of onions, lettuce, tomatoes, oregano, salt and "The Juice" — a mixture of red wine vinegar and olive oil. 

The chain has more than 1,500 locations open and in development nationwide.

Capozzi said the St. Cloud location will be looking to hire 15 to 20 employees in advance of the store opening.
