Freezing temperatures will creep up on San Antonians this weekend, first barely touching the city Saturday before engulfing the town in cold air Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperature at or below 32 degrees are expected on the outskirts of San Antonio Saturday -- in Boerne and on the city's far North Side -- before the cold front moves into all of Bexar County, said Bob Fogarty a meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

"Sunday morning looks like it will be a little colder and there will be a freeze across the entire city," he said.

Downtown San Antonio will see temperatures drop to 30 degrees Sunday and Boerne will dip to 25 degrees, Fogarty said.

High temperatures will hover in the mid 50s.

Precipitation in the area is not likely until Monday and Tuesday, he said. There is a 20-30 percent chance for rain on Monday and Tuesday.

"If it rains, it'll rain before the real cold air gets here," Fogarty said. "We are not expecting any winter precipitation Monday and Tuesday."

Northern parts of Texas in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, however, are seeing the possibility for snow or sleet Thursday afternoon and again on Monday night, he said.
