1. Asdrubal Cabrera, 3B
The Mets are still lacking a true table-setter, but Cabrera knows how to get on base. He might not have the same speed or base-running abilities he once had as the 32-year-old been hindered by leg injuries over the past few years, but Cabrera is still one of the steadiest hitters in the lineup and capable of leading off.

2. Michael Conforto, CF
If manager Mickey Callaway wants to break up the big lefty bats in the order, he can take a page from the Angels' book and bat Michael Conforto second. Mike Trout hits second and Mike Scioscia has always maintained that the best hitter in the lineup should be in the No. 2 hole. Plus, Conforto has hit near the top of the order, batting leadoff for most of 2017.

3. Yoenis Cespedes, LF
Yoenis Cespedes prefers to bat third and he hits well there knowing there's protection behind him. However, Cespedes needs to stay healthy in order for this lineup scenario to come to fruition. Should he go down with more lower-leg muscle injuries, Conforto might move to left field and Juan Lagares would likely bat leadoff as the centerfielder. It's a much more potent lineup with Cespedes in it.
