"Sports play an important role in physical and mental growth along with building character and I urge youths to make it an essential part of their day-to-day life'', the Chief Minister said while giving away the championship trophy of T G Baruah Memorial Media T-20 Championship at Judges Field here.



He further said that there should be proper promotion of sports medicine and a more scientific approach in this sector as the state government was committed to promote sports in public-private partnership. He also pointed out that sports could play a positive role in nurturing team spirit, brotherhood and friendship and make society more peaceful.

Sonowal lauded media's role in identifying hidden sports talents from different parts of the state and sought their cooperation in further promotion of sports. Pratidin newspaper clinched the champion's trophy by defeating its electronic channel partner Pratidin Time in the final match on Thursday.
