Corpus Christi police arrested a 28-year-old man accused of sexual assault.

According to a news release from the department, officers arrested Eulalio Martinez on Thursday on a warrant for suspicion of sexual assault.

On Tuesday, the Diocese of Corpus Christi said in a news release it fired Martinez after they received word that Martinez, an employee of West Side Helping Hand Youth Center and of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, was involved in "inappropriate behavior with a youth."

Martinez was immediately terminated from all parish positions. Law enforcement was also contacted and the diocese is cooperating with the investigation, the release states.

West Side Helping Hand also announced Martinez's firing in a news release, which states it was made aware of the allegations by the diocese on Jan 3. The release states the incident took place outside of youth center hours.

The church and youth center are located on Hiawatha Street, near Baldwin Boulevard and Morgan Avenue.

Marty Wind, director of communications for the diocese, said no additional information from the diocese will be given.

Martinez remained in the Nueces County Jail on Thursday evening for a warrant for suspicion of sexual assault. His bail is set at $100,000, according to jail officials.
