A 44-year-old Mountain Home man faces a kidnapping charge for allegedly holding a former girlfriend against her will during a November incident, according to an affidavit filed in the case.
Jerry Dean Hopper Jr. is being held on one count of kidnapping and a misdemeanor charge of third-degree domestic battery. He was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
According to the affidavit, Hopper called the alleged victim on Nov. 30 of last year. Hopper told the woman, his on- and off-again girlfriend, that he had quit drinking, was going through withdrawl and was nauseous.
The woman gathered of some soup, Sprite and nausea medicine and headed to Hopper's Mountain Home residence. After she arrived, Hopper reportedly became belligerent and would not let her leave.
When the woman tried to leave, Hopper grabbed her neck with both his hands, pushed her across a room, threw her down on a couch and jumped on top of her, according to the affidavit.
Hopper then reportedly punched her in the head. The woman attempted several times to flee the home over the course of approximately 45 minutes. The woman reported that Hopper caused her to "endure pain" during most of that time.
When she was finally able to flee the residence, Hopper allegedly chased her to her car. The woman went home and later to the hospital for treatment of her injuries, according to the affidavit.
The woman suffered a black eye, had grab marks on both sides of her neck and her arms. The woman also reportedly had a bite mark on her hand.
According to the affidavit, the alleged victim provided investigators with text messages and short videos where Hopper reportedly apologizes, offers to leave the woman alone and "begs her not to file charges."
