Halstead's (Jesse Lee Soffer) recent actions on Chicago P.D. -- which include putting his badge on the line for his drug dealer girlfriend -- are negatively affecting the others around him. Most notably, his partner Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), whose loyalty to him has yet to be rewarded.
"He's very wary of her and I think he doesn't trust her yet," Soffer told TV Guide during The Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Although Upton has been looking out for her partner, as seen when she threatened to bury Camila if she told anyone about Halstead, the wariness is quite mutual, and it might while before the partners actually begin to build any trust between them. However, if Upton can help Halstead turn things around, that might be just the thing they need to finally get on the same page and bring back the affable detective we all know, love and miss.
"Maybe that will bring them closer and bond the two of them and he can start to find himself again," said Soffer.
Given how out of character Halstead's been acting lately, we hope this shift happens sooner rather than later.
Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
