DHARAMSHALA: Newly elected BJP govt. in
Himachal Pradesh had started its day with a tough stand against corruption and it also announced to end vindictive politics in state. Congress in opposition with 21 legislatures in house of 68 has said that it will monitor the actions of government for 100 days that whether this government will bring any policy to turn its words into actions. Party leaders said that they will play a role of healthy opposition this time and will make this government accountable for their every deed in public domain.
Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu (53), state chief of the
congress party and legislature in state assembly while talking to TOI told that they are in observing mode and are monitoring the declarations being made by the new chief minister
Jairam Thakur and his cabinet.
"We will speak out after 100 days. If government is committed to take a tough stand against mining mafia, drug mafia, transfer mafia and corruption in system then they must bring a policy to transform hem words into actions" said Sukhu.
Revealing the stand of congress in house, Sukhu said that the opposition with come will play a vital role by raising voice against the misdeeds of the govt.
"Ruling party will not enjoy a free hand. Opposition will keep a check and make them accountable for their every action taken in public domain," he said.
Congress president contradicted the statements of CM Jairam Thakur for providing status of leader of opposition to Congress after observing their conduct in house as majority of the party is less than one third of total strength.
"BJP CM is no one to give a character certificate to congress, neither we are hungry of any post. We will pay off the duties of a genuine opposition and will keep raising issues of the people" he said.
It was said that at least one-third is required for this status, while congress has said that only 10% are required.
Sukhu has won elections from Nadaun constituency of Hamirpur of Kangra district.
