KITTERY, Maine — A resident was hospitalized with what police are calling “serious facial injuries” following a robbery at the home at 41 Route 1 Bypass on Wednesday night that resulted in one arrest with several other suspects still at large.
Police Chief James Soucy said York police arrested Brittany Adrien, 26, of 15 Picott Road in Kittery, at her job on Tuesday on charges alleging robbery and aggravated assault, which are both felony charges. He said he anticipates other arrests but did not believe there was any direct threat to the public. He also declined to say how many suspects police were investigating.
“At this point we believe this was a drug-related robbery and the victim and at least some of the suspects knew each other,” Soucy said. “We have no reason to believe this poses a threat to anyone in Kittery.”
Soucy said the victim was reportedly struck multiple times with a “blunt” object and sustained, “head and facial injuries.” Soucy said the victim was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital for treatment after he came to the police station to report the crime and was later released. Soucy said so far a vehicle that is believed to be connected to the robbery has been impounded as evidence, stolen items have been recovered and the investigation was ongoing as of Wednesday afternoon.
Soucy was unsure when Adrien would be arraigned but anticipated it would take place on Thursday or Friday in York District Court. He said anyone with any information about the incident is encouraged to call Kittery police at (207) 439-1638.
