Mourners gathered in Mount Auburn to hold a vigil and march to stop gun violence after the shooting death of 9-year-old Alexandrea Thompson.

Bond was set at $2 million for the 19-year-old accused of a fatally shooting 9-year-old Alexandrea Thompson.

Ke'von Smith was arraigned on Thursday in front of Municipal Court Judge Jackie Ginocchio and showed no reaction as murder charges were read against him.

Azuriah Hoskins Jr., 18, of College Hill and Ke'von Smith, 19, of Spring Grove Villiage, were arrested and charged Wednesday with murder in the Jan. 18, 2017 death of Thompson. Thompson's father, 39-year-old Alex Thompson, was also shot that night, but survived.

Hoskins was not formally charged on Thursday. Police said his charges were filed in juvenile court and will transfer to Hamilton County Common Pleas Court upon indictment so he can be charged as an adult.

On Jan. 18 2017, Alexandrea, or "Sissy" as she was known to friends and family, was struck in the chest by a bullet that may have gone through her father's body, her aunt said at the time. Her father was struck in the hand, arm and abdomen, the aunt said.

According to arrest reports, Hoskins and "four other co-defendants entered the house" on Burnet Avenue "by force to commit an aggravated robbery."

During the aggravated robbery, shots were fired, the arrest report says, and Alexandrea was shot.

The report says charges are pending on the co-defendants. Police said the homicide is still an active investigation but a spokesman said he had no knowledge of any other suspects at this time. 

Two people have been shot and killed in Mount Auburn since Alexandrea's death. Another eight people have been wounded in shootings in the neighborhood during that time including a 33-year-old shot on Sunday.

In the past five years, 20 people under the age of 18 have been shot and killed in Cincinnati, according to Cincinnati police data. Four of those victims were under the age of 10.
