To observe the National Youth Day, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a Hindi play Bharat Ki Nivedita will be staged at Shaheed Bhavan on Friday. The play will be performed under Deshraga series of performance organized by Directorate of Swaraj Sansthan, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The play is being directed by Prashant Chatterjee and will be performed by the artists of Srijan Cultural Committee, Bhopal.
As many as 20 artists will be seen playing different roles on stage. The drama based on the story of foreign woman Margaret Elizabeth, who dedicated her life to the service of Indians, influenced by the interpretation of Vivekananda’s Ved Vedant. Often regarded as Nivedita she came to India, educated women, doing their work in awakening national consciousness in India
The drama includes Bangla Kirtan of Rabindranath Tagore and patriotic songs of Nazarul Islam. On this occasion, Vivekananda, exhibition centered on the life-style of Swami Vivekananda, will also be displayed for audience.Notably, Swami Vivekananda was an Indian Hindu monk, a chief disciple of the 19th century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion during the late 19th century. Vivekananda conducted hundreds of public and private lectures and classes, disseminating tenets of Hindu philosophy in the United States, England and Europe. In India, Vivekananda is regarded as a patriotic saint and his birthday is celebrated there as National Youth Day.
