Hungary's fixed broadband subs grow to 2.8 mln in November

The number of fixed-line voice subscriptions in Hungary in November dropped by 4,000 to 3.127 million versus September, according to a report from local telecom regulator NMHH. The total number of fixed broadband subscriptions increased to 2.831 million from 2.808 million two months earlier. The number of landline connections rose to 429,963 from 447,028 in the previous month, the number of voice over cable television connections increased to 998,845 from 984,992, and the number of VoIP connections remained flat at 1.636 million.

T-Home Hungary continues to be first on this segment with a market share of 50.9 percent, ahead of UPC Hungary with 18.7 percent, Invitel with 12.2 percent, Digi with 12.3 percent, Tarr with 1.8 percent, PR-Telekom with 1.3 percent, ViDaNet with 0.8 percent and Parisat with 0.1 percent. Other service providers had a combined market share of 2 percent.

In the broadband market, the DSL base continued to drop, decreasing to 753,305 from 757,750 at the end of September, while the number of broadband via cable subscribers increased to 1.203 million from 1.194 million.

Of the total number of cable subscribers, 1.076 million were via Docsis 3.0, up from 1.068 million two months earlier. FTTx users continued to grow, reaching 608,676 compared to 591,796 two months ago. The percentage with speeds over 30 Mbps increased by 0.7 percent to 65.7 percent.

T-Home remains first on this market with a 35.2 percent market share, followed by UPC with 22.1 percent, Digi with 16.3 percent, Invitel with 8.8 percent, Tarr with 2.9 percent, ViDaNet with 2.5 percent, PR-Telekom with 1.7 percent, and Parisat with 0.5 percent. Other service providers' combined market share was 10.1 percent.
