RICHMOND HILL, ON: Mazda Canada Inc. (MCI) today reported December sales of 4,685 vehicles, which represents a decrease of 0.8 percent versus December 2016. Sales for the full 2017 calendar year are 74,056, which is an increase of 7.0 percent compared to CY2016, and the best full-year sales since 2010.
Key December and CY2017 sales notes:
•The CX-3 finished the year strong with a record December, increasing sales by 27.9 percent. This was also a record full year of sales for CX-3, up 16.9 percent over CY2016. CX-3 ended the year in the second place in the subcompact crossover segment with 15.7 percent of the segment share.
•The CX-5 also increased sales for the full calendar year, which it has done every year since it was introduced in 2012.
•Rounding out the crossovers, CX-9 also enjoyed a record December with a sales increase of 51.2 percent over December 2016. Full year sales are also the best ever, jumping up over CY2016 sales by 61.3 percent.
•MX-5 posted the best full-year sales since 2008, and increased over CY2016 by 26.7 percent.
•Mazda6 ended the year with a 9.0 percent gain in December, and was up 23.8 percent for the full year.
•As crossover vehicle sales continue to dominate the market, Mazda's CX-line posted YOY sales growth, with CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9 collectively posting an increase of 7.7 percent in December. The three crossover vehicles finished the year up 9.1 percent, with a record 40,285 vehicles sold in CY2017.
•With Canada now in the winter months, Mazda's i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive system - available as an option on all Mazda crossover SUVs - continues its popularity among crossover SUV buyers, with 84.2 percent of buyers choosing the option.
