VESTAL, N.Y. — Brittni Lai scored the game-winning basket on a layup in the closing seconds, Olivia Healy scored a career-high 23 points and collected a season-high 11 rebounds, and the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team rallied late for a 63-61 road win over Binghamton on Wednesday night.
UNH improved its record to 11-5 overall and 2-1 in America East. Binghamton fell to 10-5 and 1-1.
It was the second double-double of the season for the Healy. She made 10 of her 19 field goals and hit a pair of 3s. Senior forward Kat Fogarty added 14 points and eight rebounds.
The Wildcats play UMass Lowell at home on Monday at 1 p.m.

Merrimack 4, UNH 2
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The Wildcats twice fought back from two-goal deficits until a late empty-netter sealed their third straight loss.
Senior defenseman Amy Schlagel and sophomore center Abby Chapman scored for UNH, which moved to 9-9-5 overall (6-6-3 in WHEA).

EXETER — It was a painful loss for the Warriors, who led 3-0 win 8 seconds remaining in the second period but couldn’t close out the Division II win.
Winnacunnet (2-4) got first-period goals from Harrison Moulton (from Tanner Holt at 11:21), Ben Carboni (unassisted at 5:56) and Chaz Ziolkowski (from Holt at 1:17). Goalie Jack Ellis made 31 saves in defeat.
Alvirne (2-5) scored three goals in the third period, the game-winner coming off the stick of Jake Natola with 3:35 left in regulation. Alvirne goalie Jackson Dowd made 35 saves.
Winnacunnet will try to rebound at Timberlane on Monday.
Kennebunk 4, Marshwood 1
PORTLAND, Maine — The Rams broke a first-period tie with three unanswered goals in the second, and held on for the Class A South win.
Chase Stanley scored the lone KnightHawks goal, assisted by DJ Cagnina and Nate Dewolf. Goalies Ethan Hammond and Austin Ledger combined to stop 26 of the 30 shots they faced. The KnightHawks are back in action Saturday at 2:45 p.m. at the Dover Ice Arena.

Rink malfunction forces postponement
of Exeter vs. St. Thomas/Winnacunnet
EXETER — Wednesday’s scheduled ‘Stick it to Stigma’ high school girls hockey team between Exeter and St. Thomas/Winnacunnet was postponed due to a malfunction at The Rinks at Exeter; a makeup date for the first-ever meeting between the two teams is still to be announced.
Players from both teams were set to skate Wednesday to help raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention via the Connor’s Climb Foundation.

Newmarket 51, Nute 17
MILTON — The Mules broke open a close D-IV game with a 14-2 surge in the second quarter and never looked back.
Newmarket (5-3) led 9-5 after the first quarter, but widened that to 23-7 at the half.
Brenda Bounphakhom led the Mules with a game-high 13 points. Abigail Henry, Brianna Filion and Reagan Jordan each had eight.
Emilee Flanagan led the Rams (0-8) with 10 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Penelope Ayotte added seven points, five steals and six rebounds.
Nute hosts Wilton-Lyndeborough Friday. Newmarket entertains Mount Royal the same night.

Marshwood girls take first, boys second
BRIDGTON, Maine — The Marshwood girls ski team scored 31 points to win Wednesday's six-school giant slalom meet at Shawnee Peak.
Falmouth/Waynflete was second with 37. The Marshwood boys had 42 to place behind first-place Falmouth/Waynflete with 12.
The Hawk girls were led by Katie Mundell who was fifth with a combined time of 1:13.88. She was followed by Brooke Flynn (eighth, 1:17.91), Alex Gale (11th, 1:18.58) and Alayna Melino (14th, 1:20.20).
Traip's Bella Wollocott was sixth as an independent with a time of 1:16.97.
Sean Maguire led the Marshwood boys with a third-place finish in 1:04.30. Jack Flynn was 10th in 1:10.19. After that it was Tucker Davis (16th, 1:13.20) and Brennan Shiverick (19th, 1:16.60).
York's Jack Harrington was ninth in 1:09.94.
Marshwood is back in action Friday night at Shawnee Peak.
