Weather improves in J&K

Minimum temperatures throughout and Kashmir improved on Thursday due to a nightlong cover as people got some respite from the week-long intense sweeping the state.

"The minimum temperature was minus 3.0 in as against Wednesday's minus 6.3, thereby bringing relief to the residents," the Met said.

Minimum temperature was 6.1 in city on Thursday as against 4.4.

The improvement in minimum temperatures in the state occurred because of a partial nightlong cover, a said.

It was minus 3.3 in Pahalgam, and minus 8.5 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg, which was the lowest temperature in the valley.

Leh town recorded minus 14.6 and Kargil minus 20.6 degrees Celsius, showing slight improvements.

Minimum temperature did not fall below the freezing point anywhere in the region on Thursday.

In the region, Mata Vaishno Devi base town recorded 8.4, Batote 5.2, Banihal 1.6, Bhaderwah 2.8 and Udhampur 3.3.
