A new medical clinic is in the near future for Breezy Point.

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center plans to open the County Road 11 clinic in the spring of 2019.

The clinic is part of the new North Star Center development planned for 40 acres of land next to and across the road from the Breezy Point Sports Center. The development will also include a GuidePoint pharmacy, dental office and other medical-related facilities, gas station and convenience store, according to Bob Spizzo, CEO of Whitebirch, Inc./Breezy Point Resort, the project developer.

"CRMC is excited to partner with Whitebirch and City of Breezy Point to provide a new clinic in an area where numerous patients already receive our services. It is our goal to bring as many services as we can to the patient," Kyle Bauer, CEO of Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, said in a news release. "We continually evaluate demographic shifts, community need, depth and breadth of available services, accessibility and consumer ease."

One family medicine physician and two clinicians will be onsite at the 7,000-square foot facility. There will be 10 exam rooms for outpatient clinic care and additional space available for expansion. Other services available will include laboratory and diagnostic imaging.

Like all CRMC satellite locations, the new clinic will be connected to the MyChart electronic health record system, so all patients' vital medical information is available to any CRMC provider, no matter where they are seen.

Spizzo plans to make sure clinic and surrounding development fit in with the current look of Breezy Point.

"We're trying to coordinate all the architecture - the color, the signage, the landscaping - so both of the sides of the road will have some continuity to them. So as you're coming into Breezy Point, instead of just seeing a bunch of storage buildings, now you're going to see a beautiful oasis over there that's going to have the gas station, the medical center, and so forth," Spizzo said. "Our goal is to have it where it's going to be the most attractive, most appealing resort community in the state of Minnesota, possibly the upper Midwest also. So we've got very big plans."

Groundbreaking for the new clinic and GuidePoint pharmacy is expected this spring. The completion dates for the other facilities are unknown.
