IT Minister KT Rama Rao meets Suresh Prabhu

The State government has requested Union Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu to extend liberal assistance to Telangana to help complete the prestigious projects launched by the government.

Industries and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao who met the Union Minister in New Delhi on Wednesday invited Mr. Suresh Prabhu to participate in the Bio Asia summit slated to be held in the State Capital on February 22 and 23 for which the Union Minister responded positively. During the interaction, Mr. Rama Rao requested the Union Minister to grant National Investment and Manufacturing Zone status to the pharma city proposed by the State and extend financial assistance to the tune of ₹1,500 crore for it.

The Union Ministry should also expedite release of assistance to Hyderabad–Warangal, Hyderabad–Ramagundam and Hyderabad–Bengaluru industrial corridors. Mr. Rama Rao wanted the Centre to sanction a leather park to Telangana as the proposed park had been allocated to Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation.

The Minister, who holds the NRI affairs portfolio, attended the PIO Parliamentarians meet chaired by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. He explained that several people from the Telugu speaking States were residing in West Asia and hence, it was necessary to appoint Telugu translators in the embassies there.

The Minister expressed concern that though the NRIs stranded in countries like Yemen and Libya were being rescued from time to time, they were opting for employment in these countries in view of the lucrative wages. In this context, he supported the Central Government’s decision against issuance of passport for five years to those migrating to other countries without proper documents.
