Woodridge High School cross country and track and field head coach Jeff Howard will be inducted into the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame.
The induction will take place on Jan. 26 at the Hilton at Easton in Columbus.
Howard has led the Bulldogs’ programs for 19 years and has not only maintained the level of excellence displayed by his predecessor Stan Stammen (32 years, OATCCC Hall of Fame Class of 2006), but Howard has also lifted the programs to new heights.
During Howard’s 19 seasons, he has had 293 student-athletes qualify for the OHSAA state championships, with 116 earning All-Ohio honors.
Woodridge has won 23 district championships, 15 regional titles and has won eight cross country team state championships, including an incredible run of four straight for the boys program from 2006-2009.
In 2016, Howard’s Bulldogs became just the second school in Ohio history to sweep the cross country team championships.
Last June, the Bulldogs qualified for the track and field state championships for the 16th time for the boys and 18th time for the girls, who rank No. 9 all-time in appearances at the state meet. The boys team has qualified for four consecutive years and the girls have now run their streak to nine straight years.
