Manipur tops insurgency related fatalities in NE in 2017

Manipur topped the northeastern region in term of insurgency related killings during the year 2017. During the year, 55 people including 23 each of insurgents and civilians and nine security personnel lost their lives in insurgency related fatalities.
Besides claiming 55 lives, Manipur witnessed 34 instances of bomb explosions claiming lives of six people and injuring to 62 others. Even though responsibilities of eight such explosions were owned up by different insurgent outfits, most of the blasts at private residential areas were not claimed by anybody.
