The man implicated in the grisly dismemberment death of Rori Hache was a frequent flyer at a shuttered Tim Hortons outlet in downtown Oshawa.
The teen – whose torso was found floating in Oshawa harbour in September after vanishing in August – was also a regular customer.
Her family has claimed the pretty 18-year-old had no known connection to Adam Jeffrey Strong, 45, an Ajax gas station attendant.
Cops were tipped off that there were body parts in Strong’s basement apartment and he was arrested Dec. 29.
The remains were determined to belong to Hache.
Sources told the Toronto Sun that Strong may have met Hache at the Tim Hortons outlet at 17 Athol St. W. The outlet was closed in November, reportedly because of drug users and other troublemakers.
“He was in their all the time,” the source – who did not want to be identified – told the Sun. “You’d walk in and your first impression was, ‘what a loser.’
“Adam was always trying to make friends with homeless people.”
As a friend of Strong’s ex-girlfriend, he said the 20-something woman, like Rori Hache, was petite.
The former paramour was also homeless and drug-addicted but she was not a prostitute.
“He would order up escorts from backpages.com, not street level girls,” the source added.
Shortly after the woman moved into his McMillan Dr. apartment, Strong ramped up his BDSM demands, according to the source.
“He was rough, he let it be known that he was in charge. But what could she do? There was nowhere else for her to go,” the source added.
