The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a family of five -- including a newborn baby -- from a flooded home in Santa Barbara County.

The Coast Guard went to a house in Carpinteria Tuesday after it was slammed by a mudslide.

Crews rescued a girl trapped in rubble from a Montecito home amid a powerful mudslide that wiped away multiple residences and shut down roads in the area.



One by one, emergency crews saved a couple, their baby, their 7-year-old son and their 3-year-old daughter.

They also rescued the family's two dogs.

The Coast Guard says another helicopter crew saved more than 20 evacuees and pets from a shelter hit by the storm.
