Drastic Shift In Temps Could Cause Some Concern On The Roads
Brian Karstens reports:
We are no strangers to sudden shifts in the weather in KELOLAND, but even by our standards, the changing temperature will be impressive and cause for some concern on the roads.
We sometimes refer to this situation as a flash freeze because wet roads can quickly freeze and become coated with patches of black ice.
Road temperatures at the start of the day were in the 30s in much of KELOLAND. That's all changing the next 24 hours.
Arctic cold fronts like this are known for fast drops in the temperature associated with strong NW winds.
The hour-by-hour temperature outlook in KELOLAND reveals the big change. From 30s to start the evening in the southeast to single digits by Thursday morning. Those are temperatures, not wind chills. Those numbers will be even colder.
For those of you keeping track, this will be outbreak number three for subzero cold this winter. It's also not the last outbreak of arctic cold.
