A schoolboy died and his father was seriously injured when a wall collapsed on them at Bara-Louhaghar village in Akhaura upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased was Shohan Miah, 15, son of construction worker Alam Mia, 45, of the area, and a Class X student of Tolaishimul High School.
Critically injured Alam was admitted to the upazila health complex.
The accident took place when the two were breaking an old building at the house of one Shahin Miah in the village.
Hearing screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and rescued the father and son, said Mosharraf Hossain Tarafder, officer-in-charge of Akhaura Police Station.
Shohan was rushed to the health complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead, said the OC.
The boy was helping his father as a co-worker, he said.
