Two-day Lalon festival ends in Pabna

A two-day Lalon festival concluded in Pabna on Tuesday, highlighting Lalon's philosophy. The Lalon Swaran Parishad, Pabna organised the seventh edition of the festival at the Pabna town hall premise on Monday.

Leading Lalon artists Farida Parvin and Baul Shafi Mondal performed Lalon's songs at the festival, while discussions and other programmes also featured on the occasion.

Festival organizer Habibur Rahman Shopon chaired the concluding day's programme. Pabna deputy commissioner Jasim Uddin spoke as chief guest at the concluding discussion while among others, Lalon artiste Farida Parveen, flautist Gazi Abdul Hakim, principal of Pabna medical college Dr. Riajul Haque, Industrialist Ruhul Amin Bishwas, theatre activist Gonesh Das spoke on the occasion.

The speakers focused the value of life according to Lalon's philosophy.

“Lalon shows the way for building secular world by loving human beings,” the speakers said.

“If we follow the message of Lalon's philosophy, it is easy to be in communal harmony in society through love, where there is no clash of interest and the clash of religion because all the religion and customs are in the interest of mankind,” the speakers said.

Leading Lalon artiste Farida Parveen performed songs from Lalon on Tuesday night, while Shafi Mondal performed Lalon's songs on Monday.

“Lalon Shoron Parishad, Pabna has been organising Lalon festival for the last seven years in the district headquarters, to spread the light of Lalon's philosophy among people,” Jakir Hossain, convener of the Lalon Swaran Parishad said.
