Dover schools mourning death of eighth-grader

DOVER — The Dover public school community is mourning the death of a student who died Tuesday.

Dover Middle School eighth-grader Alex L. Leclerc, 14, died at his home Jan. 9, according to his obituary.

Middle School Principal Kimberly Lyndes wrote in an email sent to parents that the community was “deeply saddened to learn of the untimely death” of Alex and extended sympathies to his family, friends and relatives.

“Students in Alex’s classes have been informed about his death. Our school counselors have been available to consult with teachers and to address concerns of the students and will continue to be available in the coming days to provide services as needed to students,” Lyndes wrote in the email. “As a result of classroom discussions, your children may have questions or worries about this loss. If your student needs support, or you know of a student who needs support, please contact the school at 603-516-7200.”

Calling hours are 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 150 Central Ave., according to Leclerc’s obituary.
