Kurien: Indian diaspora is most valued asset
Deputy Chairman Rajya Sabha PJ Kurien on Tuesday said that Indian Diaspora is the most valued asset and the country has immensely benefited from its contribution in various fields. “Now, it is for us to deliberate and devise programmes for common development.” said Kurien while addressing the First Thematic Plenary Session on “PIO Parliamentarians: A journey from Struggle to Parliament.”
Chairing the Session, Kurien , said it is a matter of great pride that our Diaspora, wherever they are, have kept the linkages with our great traditions and culture and continue to uphold Indian values. Recalling the struggle made by Indian immigrants to various countries in search of employment about two centuries ago, Prof. Kurien said it was extremely difficult.
“In spite of all that, our PIOs have made remarkable contributions to their adopted lands in al1 spheres, with their diligence, self-discipline and determination,” Kurien said adding that Indian Diaspora is the Second largest in the world now.
