SHARJAH: His Higness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University of Sharjah, UoS, has praised the achievements of the university and its efforts, creating a unique academic institution on a local and global scale.
H.H. Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed’s remarks came while chairing the 44th meeting of UoS’ Board of Trustees held at his office at the university on Jan.10.
His Highness went on to highlight two important achievements by the university including ranking in first place nationwide and 452nd position within the global classification of universities in the fields of sustainable development and adherence to environmental standards.
Sheikh Sultan noted that the second accomplishment was attained when the university demonstrated its position at the local and regional level by being classified by two specialised international organisations, the QS and The Times, as one of the largest comprehensive and integrated universities at the local and regional level in the fields of scientific research.
His Highness expressed his thanks and appreciation to university members of the Trustees Board and the administration for their efforts over the past period.
The council reviewed the organisational structure of the university, the application of electronic files for students in the Faculty of Medicine, and completion of electronic files for faculty members.
Following the ratification of the minutes of the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees, Dr Hamid Mjul Al Naimi, Director of the University of Sharjah, presented a report on the university’s academic achievements in 2017, and also briefed the meeting attendees on UoS’ current and future projects and plans.
During the meeting, the board approved the report of the financial committee on internal auditing as well as the promotion of a number of teaching staff.
The board also approved introducing a number of doctorate and masters programmes in medicine.
The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Trustees, Teaching Staff as well as other officials.
