The weather bulletin released by MET Ranchi observatory centre on Wednesday suggested that within two to three days, city residents will get respite from the bone chilling cold as the temperature is likely to rise improving the mercury level. Also, the report suggests that leaving out a few regions, the State Capital including several other parts of the State will get immediate relief from cold wave like condition within this week only.

Director, Ranchi MET observatory centre, BK Mondal on Wednesday said, “With every passing day, the weather will come to its normal track here. Within this week, people of Ranchi and several other parts of the State will get immediate relief from cold wave and bone chilling cold. However, the impact of cold wave like condition will continue in the southern part of the State.” On Wednesday, Ranchi recorded maximum 24.8 degree Celsius while minimum temperature 6.2 degree Celsius was registered here. The impact of severe cold was observed in other districts as well. Districts like Jamshedpur and Daltonganj registered minimum 5.8 degree Celsius and 5.1 degree Celsius respectively. The temperature at Kanke remained around minimum two degree Celsius on Wednesday as well. Suburb area Kanke continued to shiver and registered minimum 2.5 degree Celsius as per the MET Ranchi Observatory Centre record. By far, due to intense cold wave condition, around 13 deaths from across Jharkhand have been reported. The consolidated report suggests two persons reportedly died in Ranchi district while death cases from Dhanbad, Deogarh and Jamshedpur have been reported so far. Following the severe impact of cold wave, the district administration had recently directed the private school managements to reschedule the classes hour accordingly from 10 AM onwards.
