People of the state capital continued to shiver as the mercury in Dehradun settled at 4.6 degree Celsius on Wednesday. Met officials said that very light to light rain/snow is likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts while dry weather would prevail in the rest of the state on Thursday.
The highest maximum temperature 23.3°C was recorded at Dehradun while the lowest minimum temperature settled at -4.4°C at Matela in Almora district. Cold day condition is likely to prevail at isolated places in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts during the next 24 hours, Met department said.
Uttarakhand Meteorological centre director Bikram Singh said that moderate fog occurred in some parts of the plains of Uttarakhand. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature and minimum temperatures were recorded at 23.3 degree Celsius, four notches above the normal, and 4.6 degree Celsius, one degree below the normal, respectively in Dehradun. In Pantnagar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 10.4 degree Celsius, nine notches below the normal, and 5.2 degree Celsius, normal respectively. In Mukteshwar, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 20.0 degree Celsius, eight degree above the normal, and 5.8 degree Celsius four notches above the normal. In Tehri, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 19.0 degree Celsius and 6.2 degree Celsius respectively.
Singh said that the weather forecast for Dehradun on Thursday is mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 23 degree Celsius and 5 degree Celsius respectively on Thursday.
