Washout leaves U-19s cold

The Bangladesh Under-19 team will start their ICC Under-19 World Cup campaign starved of quality practice as a poor result against their Afghanistan counterparts was followed by their second and final warm-up against Pakistan being abandoned due to rain at Christchurch yesterday.

Saif Hasan and his troops have lost all three completed practice games in New Zealand so far, including the two practice games against Otago XI during their 10-day training camp in Dunedin. The young Tigers then succumbed to a 56-run defeat against Afghanistan in Christchurch despite bundling out the opposition for 206 in their first official warm-up on Monday.

Batting has been the biggest concern for Bangladesh heading into the mega event where they will take on Namibia in the tournament opener on January 13 at the Lincoln Green Cricket Ground in Christchurch.
