The BJP on Wednesday severely criticised Bargarh SP B Jugal Kishore for his statement that attack on the house of BJP youth activist Manoranjan Meher was not politically motivated.
“The BJP wants to know whether the SP made the statement on the basis of information and investigation or just read a script issued from the Third Floor on behalf of the BJD. The statement of the SP has created doubts in public,” said party spokesperson Sajjan Sharma.
Sharma alleged that the SP just repeated the words of BJP spokesperson in his statement.
He said while villagers heard miscreants saying that they were people of Minister Sushant Singh and anybody goes against the BJP would face such consequences the SP’s assertion has proved his party BJP’s allegation that the district Collector and the SP are acting as BJD district presidents and secretaries, respectively.
“The responsibility of the police is not only to nab the culprits but to bring the conspirators to the fore and punish all accused. But the SP is trying not to conduct an investigation into the incident,” Sharma alleged further.
Meanwhile, the Congress expressed doubts that a free and fair by-election many not be held for Bargarh Assembly seat.
“The activities of the BJD and the BJP at the by-poll bound Bijepur is disappoint. They are trying to influence voters before election date is announced. I doubt that a free and fair election may not be held,” PCC president Prasad Harichandan told reporters.
Countering BJP’s allegation BJD spokesperson Pratap Keshari Deb said the saffron party is playing a political game by exaggerating a common issue with the help of media. “As they (BJP) find difficulties to create a base in Bijepur, they are creating an issue out of nothing,” he said.
