Auckland trains are back to normal after a breakdown near Britomart Station saw commuters face delays and cancellations during rush hour this morning.

Auckland Transport said services across the Southern, Western and Onehunga lines were held up just under an hour due to a train fault at Parnell.

Those heading to work by rail were warned to expect disruption.

Auckland Transport said a recovery operation to clear the line at Parnell had caused extra delays to commuters using the Western line.

All train services had resumed their regular timetable just before 8am.

Meanwhile, mechanical issues at Northcote Pt Wharf are preventing ferry services from sailing this morning.

Auckland Transport said all ferry services would travel to and from Birkenhead Wharf only and buses would take passengers between Northcote Pt and Birkenhead Wharf for sailings until 9.40am.
