The first phase of student union election 2017 of Vinoba Bhave University concluded with the process of voting and counting on Wednesday. Though at the time of filing of this report results were coming out from different colleges of the university but in colleges of Hazaribagh ABVP was looking to be in dominating position.
In all colleges and PG departments voting started at 9am and it continued till 3pm. In arts block of PG department and in KB women’s college it lasted about an hour more because there was long queue at both places at 3pm. The district administration played an important role in passing the entire process without any serious incident. Though rumors of clashes were echoing in the city but most of them were false as after verification it became clear that only two minor clashes took place in local colleges and PG departments.
The voters turnout once again disappointed the VBU administration. In most of the colleges it remained below 25%. The maximum voting was recorded in law college were 63.61% voters used their franchise. Here the numbers of voter was only 367. The minimum voting percentage was recorded in PN college Isri which was 14.22%.
This time a major change was noticed during the counting process.
In comparison to last year this year very few number of votes were declared invalid while a good number chose NOTA. It clearly says that the new generation has become acquainted with the voting process and NOTA also.
As per the results declared so far ABVP has captured all the four seats in St. Columba’s college here Ritesh Yadav has become president, Shalini Singh vice president, Anish Raj secretary and Prince Kumar Gupta joint secretary.
In Annada college Manish Kumar Sharma has been elected as president, Sachin Kumar as Vice president and Siddhart Pratik as secretary (all ABVP). JVCMs Supriya Kumari won the seat of joint secretary with highest number of votes obtained by any candidate of any post.
At KBW ABVPs Rakhi Kumari became president, Neelu Kumar vice president and Manorma Kumari secretary. Independent Radha Kumari won as joint secretary.
