The Amherst Regional boys basketball team was trailing by four heading into the fourth quarter when Jazdeal Roman took over.
The junior guard had half of his team’s final quarter points and carried the Hurricanes to a 63-47 win over Minnechaug, Tuesday at home.
Roman, who was scoreless at halftime, had 14 of his 17 in the fourth. Tate Rietkerk led Amherst (5-1) with 18 points, while Kyle Murray added 14.
Northampton 74, Westfield 48 — Diego Corrada-Mattei and Javonte Grant each had their best games in Hamp uniforms as the Blue Devils (7-1) rolled over the Bombers at home.
Corrada-Mattei had 18 points and Grant added eight. Michael McCarthy added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Northampton (7-1).
Easthampton 97, Smith Academy 35 — The Eagles (3-4) scored 33 points in the opening quarter and raced past the Falcons at home.
Ant Moynihan led four players in double figures with 20 points. Moynihan was joined by Zade Jenkins (19), Sopie Pek (15) and Ronan Mottor (10).
Brett Gratz led Smith (3-5) with 12 points, while Carter Woodward added 11.
Frontier Regional 50, Greenfield 35 — Carsten Carey was too much for the Green Wave as he had 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks to pace the Red Hawks at Goodnow Gym.
Kalen Evans added 11 points for Frontier (4-4, 2-0 Hampshire).
Pathfinder 45, Gateway Regional 35 —Evan Cortis had 13 points but the Gators (0-9, 0-5 Tri-County North) fell in Huntington.
Renaissance 74, Granby 51 — Ryan Sheehan had 24 points with four 3-pointers, while Eugene Rentas added 15 points, but the Rams (4-2, 1-2 Bi-County West) lost in Springfield.
Palmer 59, South Hadley 56 — The Tigers jumped out to an early lead but couldn’t hang on and fell to the Panthers at home.
Calvin Bridges had over half of South Hadley’s points with 32, while Keith Harris added 13 for the Tigers (3-4).
Mahar 37, Belchertown 36 — The Orioles (3-6) held a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter, but the Senators (4-5) rallied thanks to 12 free throws.
Emma LeBlanc had 14 points, while Catherine Mastalerz added nine for Belchertown.
