Metamora coach Chuck Danner was one of seven coaches inducted into the Illinois Track and Cross Country Coaches Association's Hall of Fame at the ITCCCA annual banquet on Jan. 6.
Danner is in his 46th year of coaching track and field and has been Metamora’s coach since 1984. During his tenure, the Redbirds have won 18 Mid-Illini Conference titles, including the last three, and three sectionals. He’s also coached 26 IHSA state medalists, with three state champions. Last spring, Danner coached Jake Gillum to state titles in both the 800 and 1600 meters in Class 2A.
